SHORTHANDSK offers something unique to Danish music and lyric at a time when the political climate is particularly tense. Lyric, music, and storytelling serve as outlets for frustration and anger, providing authentic insights into the life circumstances of minorities.

SHORTHANDSK IS BACK WITH NEW MUSIC AND A COLLECTION OF LYRICS

The Aarhus-based trio has spent the past couple of years finalizing two interconnected EPs, to be released in autumn 2024 and spring 2025, respectively. Additionally, SHORTHANDSK will release a collection of lyrics in the autumn, featuring a graphical side to the lyrics by Henrik Siegel and a poignant foreword by established author Mette Jensen Hayles. Therefore, the collective is embarking on an extensive tour.

SHORTHANDSK offers something unique to Danish music and lyric at a time when the political climate is particularly tense. Lyric, music, and storytelling serve as outlets for frustration and anger, providing authentic insights into the life circumstances of minorities. Thus, the lyrics play a constructive role both for the sender and the receiver. Marwan and the rest of SHORTHANDSK have actively chosen to channel all emotions into works that spark debate and show future generations that there are alternatives to tearing down the system.

Describing the horrors of war in Gaza is both self-therapeutic and healing, extending a crucial hand to marginalized groups hoping for dialogue among people. There is a pact between SHORTHANDSK and their audience to unite around what matters. This commitment is evident once the layers of frustration and anger settle, leaving hope resonating in Marwan's voice.

Despite a harsh life on the fringes of society and constant battle against norms and prejudices, despite a body and mind that must be weary – tired of it all at times – Marwan manages to instill hope in those he encounters. His verbal punches, initially sharp, transform into a warm hand to hold as the messages become clear.

Rarely has authenticity been so beautifully expressed. It's the language of the streets and decline, but it's also human language – flawed and imperfect, yet driven by an insistent desire to do better than before. The poetry is relentless yet heartwarming, leaving no one untouched by its relentless energy and will for change.

You can be struck hard by SHORTHANDSK, yet also lifted to new understandings and embraced by a warm community that tackles emotional challenges head-on. Here, there's no pretense; where others bite their tongues and stay silent, Marwan spits out the blood and continues fearlessly confronting us with uncomfortable truths about the dire situations in many parts of Denmark and the systemic failures that many people endure and are trapped in.
