Shades of Blue – Danish Blues at Its Finest

This was the motivation when Shades of Blue won the award for Best Live Act at the Danish Music Awards Blues in 2018.

The Aarhus-based band, which has been a flagship on the Danish blues scene for over 30 years, has played countless concerts both in Denmark and abroad, building a loyal audience that spans all ages. The concerts are a living testament to the fact that Shades of Blue stands in a category of its own. As one review from the Aarhus Jazz Festival puts it:

Shades of Blue’s unique energy and authenticity remain intact well over three decades after the band’s first concert. James Loveless' confident original compositions, with catchy hook-lines, offer a strong and genuine interpretation of the blues. These songs provide the group with an additional dynamic gear and the freedom to "play" during their concerts. In addition to their own material, Shades of Blue also lovingly takes on blues classics from masters such as Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf.
