VILMA

In 2023, Aalborg-based artist VILMA, whose real name is Marie Vilsbøll, released her debut album Kærlighedserklæringer ("Declarations of Love"), which garnered praise from both the press and fans alike.

Following the album's release, VILMA has continued to make waves. She has released a series of new singles, joined Sebastian and the Danish Entertainment Orchestra on tour alongside Karl William, Soleima, and others, earned another P4 HitTip for her song Det kan ikke være sne ("It Can't Be Snow"), co-arranged with Teitur Lassen, and most recently, her song Jeg savner dig bare, det er alt ("I Just Miss You, That's All") was performed by DR’s Girls' Choir as part of their Christmas 2024 concert.

Now, VILMA is opening up about her upcoming album, set to release later this year, while also announcing her biggest nationwide tour to date.

– “On this album, I’m intense and probably feel way too much, but it’s such a relief to express it. It helps me and makes me happy.”

Sikkert syg af følelser ("Surely Sick with Feelings") is a concept album filled with stories of a young woman’s quest for grand romantic love, featuring songs that span over a decade. The timeline concludes with a hopeful and balanced relationship but begins with songs about manipulation, dependency, and boundaries being crossed. It’s not an album about revenge or bitterness but about finding a way out. The album also reflects on recognizing one’s own mistakes, often made unconsciously, and holds out hope for breaking habits and reaction patterns that hinder new relationships.

Above all, the album is a message to those, like the songwriter herself, who are hopeless romantics and tend to fight for something they believe is love but is, in reality, an illusion built on structures, stereotypes, an intensely vivid inner emotional life, and let’s be honest – something as "harmless" as romantic comedies.
