Freja Kirk is an artist who embraces and explores the fundamental human longing and struggle to find identity - in body, gender, among friends, in grief, and in desire. She skillfully channels and nuances these themes through her honest and soulful pop songs.

After releasing music in English for a decade, Freja debuted her first Danish-language single, “Hvad skal man kalde én som mig” (“What Do You Call Someone Like Me”), in 2024. The song, which delves into the experience of being caught in the grey area between man and woman, garnered significant attention across a broad spectrum of the Danish media landscape and impressively launched the pop star’s new artistic direction in her native language.

Kirk’s ability to convey emotion in Danish was further highlighted in her follow-up single, “Man Kunne Græde Oceaner” (“One Could Cry Oceans”), and in her rendition of Anne Linnet’s “Hils Din Mor” (“Greet Your Mother”), performed alongside Swedish rap and LGBTQ icon Silvana Imam and Linnet herself.

Music as Freja’s outlet has always been in the cards. Growing up with a musical father, she started playing drums and singing at an early age. In record stores, she discovered her sound through Erykah Badu, Missy Elliot, and Aaliyah—an enduring inspiration that has shaped her soulful, R&B-inspired style since her breakthrough in 2014 and into her new Danish musical universe.
